HISTORY WITH A CAPITAL D

"Let us take you on a journey through time, where the threads of our ancestors weave the story of our brand, shaping every stitch of our identity with passion and devotion."

In 1819, in the heart of the Auboise countryside, the visionary Jean-Baptiste Doré, a master knitter, dreams of a revolution in the world of knitwear. With his skillful hands and entrepreneurial spirit, he lays the foundations of what will later become our iconic "Maison Doré," a symbol of excellence and craftsmanship.

Over the decades, our small family business has transformed, under the leadership of Laurent Doré, then Elie Doré, into a true fashion institution.

In 1862, the union of two family branches gave birth to our iconic brand with two "D"s, a symbol of a heritage rich in traditions and values.

Today, we are proud to continue this centuries-old heritage by offering you products of unparalleled quality, combining comfort, style, and durability.

Our socks and tights, proudly bearing the "DD" emblem, are the result of craftsmanship passed down through generations.

THE VISIONARY LEGACY OF ANDRÉ DORÉ

Under the leadership of André Doré, a visionary boss steeped in humanism, Doré Doré revolutionised the world of work in the 19th century. Building low-rent housing, introducing a company restaurant and launching an avant-garde mutual insurance scheme, André Doré redefined the social norms of his time.

Founded on humanist values in 1819 by Jean-Baptiste Doré, each generation of the Doré family has reinforced this heritage. At Fontaine-les-Grès, the company has merged tradition and modernity, combining cutting-edge techniques and traditional know-how to offer exceptional products while preserving the well-being of its employees.

Unrivalled expertise

From its inception, Doré Doré has placed sustainability at the heart of its identity.

The famous slogan "Chaussettes DD, never worn out" from the 1950s and 1960s is proof of this.

Today, this philosophy resonates even louder, aligning with contemporary challenges of sustainable development.

From the rigorous selection of raw materials to the use of organic cotton and reinforcement techniques, each pair of Doré Doré socks and tights embodies the brand's commitment to a more responsible way of life.

Excellence and durability are woven into every thread, offering our customers timeless style with a clear conscience.

 Innovation at Doré Doré

Since its inception, Doré Doré has been at the forefront of innovation in the hosiery industry.

The Socquette enfant

In 1926, the company introduced the socquette enfant, daringly revolutionizing the norms by offering an unprecedented height that would become a timeless reference until today.

Flexible Borders

But that was just the beginning of Doré Doré's saga. In 1933, the introduction of the first double-cylinder circular knitting machine, Komet, revolutionized our workshops. This exceptional advancement allowed for a perfect adjustment of the ankle without any discomfort or undesirable pressure.

Les Solerettes

After World War II, innovation at Doré Doré only intensified. The famous "solerette" ankle protector was born, now an inseparable accessory of fashion history.

La Sébastienne

In 1966, the fashion world was shaken by the "Sébastienne," an adherent stocking that rendered traditional garter belts obsolete.

At Doré Doré, innovation is an ever-evolving story, where each new development tells an exciting chapter of our relentless pursuit of excellence and style.

The Advertising Epic: A History in Images

At the time, Doré Doré's communications were as daring as its creations.

The first advertising campaign, entitled "Les petits matelots", was launched in 1933, illustrated by the talented cartoonist Gad.

These sailors became the brand's iconic mascots until the early 1970s, helping to build its reputation.

Other iconic advertising campaigns have also been produced, by renowned artists such as Ottorino Andreini, Bernard Villemot and Francis Martocq, adding a touch of art and originality to Doré Doré's communications.
